The Gambit is a rap music artist and producer from Finland. He speaks fluent Finnish and English, and performs in both languages. The Gambit debuted in 2005 with his independently released single, Move Gambit / Cos My Clique Is, which became a Top Ten hit in Finland.
His debut album, Rosary, was released in 2007. It featured collaborations with Psycho Les of The Beatnuts, Stu Gardner, and opera singer Marika Krook among others. Since then The Gambit has, for example, inked a brand partnership deal with Pepsi, opened up shows for prominent American rap stars such as Rick Ross and Three 6 Mafia, and collaborated with popular artists both in his country as well as overseas.
The Gambit released his sophomore album entitled Kaupunkishamaani, which hit the shelves on January 2012. The album peaked at #50 on Finland's official mainstream album chart being the #2 best-selling hip-hop & rap album of the week. The album's first official single, Esirippu, became a street hit and its music video has already racked up over 120,000 views on YouTube.
With a liking for pianos, strings and other classical instruments, The Gambit is recognized for a classic and timeless production style. He signed a producer management contract to the United States in 2011. He is also known for soulful lyrics.
The Gambit runs a music production house, QGL. He has a Master's degree in International Business and is still currently enrolled in one of Finland's leading law schools, although he cites that due to hectic schedules he has taken a break from his studies. The Gambit is also a partner in a film production company called Twisted Films.
